Postmodernism is one movement that went away from the modernism viewpoint.  "It involves the belief that many, if not all, apparent realities are only social constructs, as they are subject to change inherent to time and place, It emphasizes the role of language, power relations, and motivations; in particular it attacks the use of sharp classifications." Overall the postmodernism movement has influenced many ways in which our world is shaped today, which include architecture, music, literary criticism and much more. "The term "postmodernism" comes from its critique of the "modernist" scientific mentality of objectivity and progress associated with the Enlightenment." It is usually affiliated with skepticism, plurality and difference. Postmodernism can be defined "as a set of critical, strategic and rhetorical practices employing concepts such as difference, repetition, the trace, the simulacrum and hyperreality to destabilize other concepts such as presence, identity, historical progress, epistemic certainty, and the univocity of meaning."
